Your Iceland elopement experience

Ást og Hraun packages & pricing 2024 / 25

Let’s be honest. Choosing your photographer is a big deal. And no, it’s not the financial investment we’re talking about.
You’re inviting someone to witness a very special and intimate day of your life. Moreover, you’re trusting them to tell your story, to capture those fleeting moments that will not be repeated, and to do it in a way that will feel unmistakably YOU.

We’d like to understand your love language. All the little things that add to the whole picture of you as a couple.
And we want to create an honest visual reflection of it.

Are you in?

What makes us special

It’s all about the way it felt

No, your elopement is not a photo session and a hike attached to it. We want your day to be intentional and meaningful, with truly special moments and beautiful memories to cherish!

2 local experts at your service

You’ll get not just one but two local photographers, who are deeply passionate about their job and have lots of experience – we want to share it all with you!

Going on adventure with friends

We like to keep things light and laid back – no ‘official detached business vendor’ vibes. Just a group of friends, exploring, taking photos and having fun!

Meet your photographers

Who you trust to document your most important day matters. And believe when we say this – we don’t take this trust for granted.

We are here for you, from start to finish. No matter what you envision for your celebration, we’ll be there to bring your ideas to life, remove all the stress and make sure that you and your other half have an amazing time!

with love

Daria & Hjalti

what our couples say

“Daria and Hjalti were so fun to work with and made sure we felt comfortable and had a marvelous time. Daria gave us some personal conversation prompts that made the experience truly intimate – no posing or feeling awkward, just two people in love in a beautiful place reflecting on what we have together!”

ABBY & JORDAN

“They were so attentive and helped us with planning the places we wanted to visit as well as chatting to our families and setting them at ease.  If you are looking to get married or elope to Iceland, I highly recommend chatting to Daria and Hjalti before you speak to anyone else.”

JAKE & LINDSEY

“Daria and Hjalti, with their warmth and kindness, are among the most delightful individuals we’ve ever met. Their presence made us so at ease that, at times, we forgot about the camera capturing our special moments. The photos speak for themselves, exceeding our expectations in every possible way.”

Other locations in the south-east

South-east is absolutely gorgeous and boasts of the most stunning locations in the whole of Iceland. If hiking on a glacier didn’t satisfy your craving for adventure, you can opt for another hike to a beautiful hidden canyon. There are also a few waterfalls to choose from, a less known glacial lagoon nearby, and a black sand beach, located further east. No matter what you choose, you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re lucky, you might spot a reindeer or two on your way!

Visiting Iceland in winter

It’s true, Iceland in winter is not for the faint of heart, and if you are used to mild temperatures and generally nice weather, this might not be for you. It will be cold af, and most likely windy, and the days will be short. But if you come prepared (we are here to help with that!), you’ll be rewarded with the most beautiful fairy-tale like scenery, and tolerating a bit of discomfort will be absolutely worth it in the end. The light in winter is magical, with the sun hanging low during the short hours of the day – a photographer’s dream, and a perfect setting for amazing photos. In addition, the tourists are scarce and the prices are generally lower than in high summer season.

Accessibility

Due to snowfall not all the roads will be accessible but there are still plenty of stunning locations in the south and the south-east, along the main highway #1 that you will be able to visit + some exciting possibilities in the west as well.

The glacier and the ice cave tours

Did you know that the safest time to plan for an ice cave tour is during the winter? In fact, after the recent accident at one of the caves near Breiðamerkurjökull all the ice cave tours in summer are currently on hold, and any glacier specialist will confirm that December through April will be your safest bet.
You don’t have to be in top physical shape to venture on a glacier walk or explore an ice cave – our experienced guides will make sure to tailor the tour to your level of comfort and personal preferences. And yes, it is in possible to get married on the ice!

Exploring Þórsmörk

Most of the locations in Þórsmörk require walking or hiking, and the terrain can be quite rough. You’ll have to cross rivers and do some light climbing to get to the hidden gems. Having said that, being physically fit and / or an avid hiker is not a necessity – taking it slow and moving at your own pace is welcomed and encouraged. Should you have any concerns regarding whether Þórsmörk is for you, hop on a call with us and we’ll be more than happy to talk you through the details.

Driving in Þórsmörk

The area is famous for its numerous rivers, and while some of them are rather harmless, others should be crossed with utmost caution and on proper vehicles. Unless you are a very experienced off-road driver, venturing to Þórsmörk on your own can be dangerous, extremely expensive (if you sink a rental in a river), and in some cases – lethal. Hiring a guide with a super jeep will remove any kind of potential danger, uncertainty and stress on your elopement day, and needless to say, we work with the best people in the industry, who have our full trust to transport you (and us) around the area safely.

Dining in Þórsmörk

Despite Þórsmörk being a really desolate and uninhabited area, there is a small camping ground with a bar & restaurant from Volcano Trails, called LavaGrill. As a bonus, you may well see an arctic fox or two just outside of the window!

other questions? ask away!

It’s a question of your preferences and wishes for the day – each season has something special to offer. We’ll be more than happy to guide you through it during the discovery call!

Not if you don’t want to! While some couples enjoy a little challenge, it will seem like a daunting and unpleasant task for others. We’re here to help you figure out how to make the most out of your day and what activities to include, so that you can enjoy it to the fullest.

Yes! The area of unrest is located on a small part of Reykjanes peninsula – it doesn’t affect the capital, the airport or any other part of Iceland, which means if you’re not heading straight into it (or staying at Blue Lagoon), it’s perfectly safe to be here.

Super easy! Drop us a line via the inquiry form below, and we’ll hop on a non-binding online call (for the fellow introverted introverts out there, we can totally discuss things via email). When you have enough information and are ready to proceed with booking, we’ll send you an electronic agreement to sign and an invoice for a 50% retainer (all major credit cards accepted). That’s it!

Yes! Anyone can legally get married in Iceland, and the process is actually fairly straight-forward – most of it can be done online.

Depends on a few things! The easiest way to figure this out is to hop on a call with us – we’ll talk about all the exciting options and possibilities, and help you choose the package that is a perfect match to your needs and wishes. You can also check this amazing guide written by Daria that will give you some ideas and inspiration.

Iceland’s weather is famous for its unpredictability, but hey, it’s part of its charm (and your adventure!), otherwise you would probably opt to elope in Tenerife.
In most cases we advise our couples to embrace and enjoy whatever drama the weather decides to throw at us. However, if it’s utterly miserable, preventing us from traveling safely, we’ll have to reschedule. No worries though, we always keep extra available days for a possible postponement.

The fun part, of course – we start planning! You’ll receive a little questionnaire, so we can get a better feel for what you’re after, and based on your answers we’ll conjure several possible itineraries for you. When the rough itinerary plan is locked in, we’ll take a look at vendors, accommodation, and will iron out all the remaining details. Zero stress!

Yes! Remember, it’s your special day and if you want to be surrounded by your loved ones, by all means go for it!
